What Are the Roads to Dhankar Monastery Like 

Roads are fairly good, but it is recommended to take an experienced driver with you. If you are traveling from Kaza, then the distance will be 28 km. You will drive south direction till you reach Shichilling, and from there you can take the Dhankar branch road. It will be a steep and narrow uphill drive to the Dhankar village. It is suggested to fill your gas tank in Kaza itself since there will be no gas stations on the way or at the destination.  

Similarly, for locations like Tabo, Manali, and Shimla, you will first reach Kaza and then drive south. 

What to Know Before Visiting Dhankar Monastery 

• Days can be pleasant, but the evenings will get very cold, so it is recommended to wear or carry layers. 

• Stay for at least a day in Kaza to give your body enough time to acclimatise to the high altitude 

• There could be uneven terrain near Dhankar Monastery. Wear good shoes. 

• Carry things like water, snacks, and basic madicines.
